Heritage Bank (WA) is headquartered in Olympia and is the 6th largest bank in the state of Washington. It is also the 253rd largest bank in the nation. It was established in 1927 and as of June of 2017, it had grown to 750 employees at 67 locations. Heritage Bank (WA) has an A+ health rating.
I have never been so happy with a bank as I have with Heritage. The employees are the friendliest and most helpful I have ever come across! I almost always use the drive thru in downtown and on the westside. At both places and at other locations that I visit less frequently, Tumwater and Lacey, the employees are always cheerful, helpful and nice. All I ever have to do is call or tell them face-to-face what I need and they will take care of my request for me. They don't make me jump through endless hoops just to be their customer. I will stay with Heritage as long as they continue their dedicated customer service, which is ACTUAL service in a time where that phrase has pretty much lost its meaning.
SLOW!
They seem to be annoyed that they have a customer. They take their time getting to the window (especially drive-up) to provide "service" and when they finally do, they chat with each other and fiddle around, slowing down processing my transaction. Seldom a cheerful hello, many times no greeting at all.
It's frustrating at the end of the day when I just want to get home and they are dilly dallying and wasting my time because they don't care.
They charge for things that used to be free from Whidbey bank and have added more procedures that complicate things.
My advice? Go elsewhere. Find another bank.
When I opened my FREE checking account with Whidby Bank it was a great little local bank. Then Heritage Bank took them over and at first they kept the same service and FREE checking. NOW they have outsourced their account services to BaZing and I no longer have free checking. They bazinged all the services that I liked about my account. BaZing appears to be like some kind of rewards program. It is based out of Tennessee. Yep those hilbillies are really raking in the dough from all the banks who use their services and putting the bazing to people like me on a limited income. Next month my Social Security deposite goes to a Credit Union that gives me FREE checking.
This bank has absolutely terrible customer service, they do not what is going on, they will not respond to emails. I am studying in spain for a year and an ATM machine ate my only debit card, leaving me with about 50€ and when I called heritage they told me they would expedite me an emergency credit card and that it would come in 1-3 days. They also said they would email me the exact date it would come so I would be able to sign for the card. Since the phone call A WEEK went by and they did not contact me, no one at the bank would respond to the numerous emails I sent them, and when I called them on the payphone with the last of my money they were extremely rude and said they would email with my information in a couple hours. NEVER RECEIVED ANY EMAIL. This bank will not help you when you need it most, they are not friendly & they apparently don't know how to work a computer.
The online banking is extremely hard to navigate, the page is way to congested with offers and options that you may not want to use but you can't get rid of them, they clutter up your page with unwanted options.
Do not deal with this bank~!
They think they are above us all and treat their customers with extreme rudeness. I have never dealt with such an awful bank in my entire life.
Stay away!
