The Best Bank!Friendly Employees & Great Products!

Posted by: laynep24 | Aug 16, 2016

I love banking with Heartland Bank! They have helped me with so much, from my first car loan to buying my first house. You can always call and talk to a REAL person not a machine like the other banks. I have the high interest checking account. They offer online banking and mobile check deposit which has come in handy! I also love how they have a presence in our community, helping my local high school and non-profits.

Awesome Bank!

Heartland Bank is a great local bank with better accounts and customer service than the big banks in my area. I like getting an actual person on the phone when I call and not being nickel and dimed for everything. The mobile app for online banking and mobile check deposit is a big plus.

My rewards account gives me a high interest rate, cash back bonus for using my debit card and refunds any foreign ATM fees from other banks. Having my ATM fees refunded each month more than makes up for not having a huge branch on every corner. I average about $35 refunded each month, which is awesome compared to USAA that only refunded up to $20/month.

Opened my account about 1 year ago and have been very pleased. Highly recommend the Interest Rewards checking!

Excellent Bank

I've been with Heartland since 2008 and currently have three rewards checking account each at the maximum 30,000. When I began with them, the interest rate was 6%. As of 9/2/2010 it's 3.25% but I suspect it will go down.

This is a small local bank that really aims to serve its customers. Every time I've called, a real person answers and goes the extra mile to make sure that whatever questions/concerns I have are completely resolved.

The bank has never made an error of any sort and at the end of each cycle the interest is posted without fail.

I am thoroughly happy with Heartland and only wish I lived in Arkansas so I could make it my primary bank. It's that good.

Arkansas Residents Only. I Already Had Acct So OK.

Posted by: kiwi | Apr 9, 2015

They changed to Arkansas residents only. I am from Georgia but I already had acct so I'm OK. They were very helpful getting my passwords and user name up to date. They were very patient when I had to call back several times. Also, they will accept an ACH incoming deposit instead of just a direct deposit. Stock up on those nationwide accounts while you can. They can change their restrictions at any time.

Giving It Another Chance.

Had a high rating for me and went low when they changed to 25 charges at $5. They always gave good service. I am running out of 3% options since FFB1.com and INOVA went to 2%. I have 68 charges/month for 3%-4% and I have met them by the 9th. I make $1 or less charges. I put the rest on my 2% cash back credit card. Looking at my current statement, I have 16 charges between $5-$6. I think I can do 25 easily. Heartlands closing date is the 2nd Tuesday of each month.
I will raise the rating next review if it works out. Heartland no longer shows up under the Georgia accounts. I must have gotten it before they restricted GA. Mine is still active. Get national accounts while you can. They may become unavailable to you in the future. You can always open it and make one small charge every 6 months to keep it from going dormant. Most change their terms and you will have one ready to go as needed.

Raised Requirements.

Posted by: kiwi | May 10, 2014

When they changed the monthly requirements to 25 charges / month, I moved my money. Keeping a small balance and will make deposit and charge every 5 months to keep it from going dormant. They were very nice people and I would have stayed with them forever. Never any problems. It's a 5 star if you don't mind doing 25 charges / month. It's a 1 star if you didn't want to change. So based purely on the monthly requirements, I will give them a 1 star for now. Hoping they will offer a better deal in the future.

Additional Factors: Institutions with a small asset base, a short operating history, or negative return on equity can represent an instability risk beyond what their financial ratios indicate. Heartland Bank has a negative return on equity.
