Very Good Local Bank With Great Values

I joined Green Bank online because they had a lot of locations near the apartment I was living at. At first, it was just an account that I created in order for me to use their ATMs to get cash when I needed. Green Bank also waives all ATM surcharges that I incur from other banks. International ATM fees are also waived. Green Bank turned out to be one of the best banking products I ever used. The fees are a little high but it is understandable because they are a smaller bank and they need to make money somewhere. Customer service is unmatched. I can go into a branch there are always representatives there to help me with any issues that I have. Green Bank is considered as an "Old School" bank. They know all of their customers and do a lot of things for the clients via emails, faxes, and phone calls. That help eliminate the extra long lines at the branch. The bank manager once overnighted a new debit card to me when I was stuck in Colorado and lost my current debit car. This is one of the best local banks in Texas. Highly recommended.

Green Bank - Very Convenient

I started banking with Green bank in Houston after the bought out the previous bank I was with, Patriot Bank. I was very happy with Patriot and I was concerned with the merger, but so far everything has been a very smooth transition. The merger was well transitioned and well communicated. More importantly, my experience, fees and customer service level has been on par with the previous bank or improved.

Their location in the Galleria area (Houston, TX) is very close to m work, so I can get all my in person banking done on my lunch breaks. The online banking is not as tech savvy (and sometimes not as functional) as the interfaces and features that I have been used to with the major banks, but nonetheless it gets the job done on the basics, everything from free bill pay to recurring, automatic payments. The fees have been also very reasonable on the few occasions that I needed some fee based banking, such as with with cashiers checks and wire transfers. Finally, I really like the no ATM fees feature, in the event that I am not near a Green bank facility.

The short term CD rates are very competitive vs what I was seeing from the major, name brand, national banks. I went with their 14 month CD at 1.20% in addition the free checking account that I have with them.

Green Bank - Does Not Offer Free Checking For Regular Folks

Posted by: Anonymous | Aug 22, 2012

Green Bank just bought out our local bank, and so all of our accounts switched over. We then were told that we would no longer have free checking accounts, or free savings accounts. As a family, we have 4 accounts, so the fees will be adding up. It is crazy to me that they do not have free checking.........every other bank does.

We will be switching soon to a new bank.
