Gesa is great!

Posted by: MarkM. | May 28, 2014

I can't count the trouble I've had with big business banks over the years and I finally got fed up a few months ago. Many of my friends recommended credit unions to me and to be honest I never really knew what the difference was. Eventually a friend turned me onto Gesa Credit Union, telling me all the perks and advantages I would receive. The biggest thing I got was a peace of mind, no more worry about Bank of America or Washington Federal hassling me over every little thing. I walked into the Credit Union and they were warm, friendly, and nothing but helpful. They quickly set everything up for me and it was a complete breeze. I now recommend Gesa to everyone I know, even the people who aren't having problems with their current bank. This company is professional and actually cares about it's customers and leaves you knowing that your money is safe.

Long Time Customer, Not Happy!

Gesa is awful. I have had a student checking with them since I was 16 and I have lost count on how many times they have had horrible customer service. I am a college student who lives across state and should have closed my account when I was 18. The inconveniences I have had with them are unreasonable. I have been charged a ridiculous amount of late fees for multiple overdrafts because of their slow online banking which has caused me nearly 200 dollars. Every time I try to explain my situation, there have been multiple reps that don't care and won't help me. Definitely don't recommend Gesa. My whole family of 5 have now ended their accounts with gesa because of their awful experiences, too. Credit unions can be tricky but you can find good ones but this is NOT a good one. On the contrary the West Richland Branch is the only branch that kept me wanting to keep an account with them over these years.

Poor Customer Service

I am a valued customer of Gesa Credit Union (so I thought). I currently have an auto loan that I have been paying on for the last 4 years. I recently submitted my payment for this month, I am not behind on my payments. I received a phone call last week from your collections department. I was not home at the time so I returned the call today. I was informed by the collection representative that my account is currently past due, because I failed to pay the the 10 cents. I responded back and said "you are kidding me, my account is past due because I did not pay the $.10" (yes 10 cents) the rep replied and said "yes, you have to pay the full amount including the cents to avoid your account going into a past due status." I was asked to pay an additional 10 cents on my next months payment to catch my account up. I was also told that I should have received some type of past due reminder in the mail. Really...for 10 cents, I'm sure this is not the first time I forgot to add the 10 cents on my monthly auto loan payment. I'm only owing a little over 5 grand left, and like I said, I've been making my payments. Matter in fact, I have made a payment before paying over the amount. With this tough economy right now they are lucky I am able to submit my payments in full and on time. I have a new born and am working full time, and all Gesa has time for is contacting their value customers about 10 cents. WOW!!!! I can't wait for the day that my car loan is paid in full. Go and harass your other customers who did not make their payments at all. I am so disappointed right now, what a way to treat your so called good customers who make the effort to pay on their loans. Gesa needs to do better with how you treat your customers. I have never in my life received such a petty call.
