Review from Loyal Member

I have been a member of Educational Employees Credit Union for 20 years. They made getting my first auto loan very easy and matched an offer I received from other lenders. If my checking account is overdrawn they transfer money from my savings account for a small fee instead of charging $20 fees for every transaction I make. I have had other banks charge huge fees for overdrawing my account by as little as $10. The loan rates are great and they offer competitive CD rates as well.

Do NOT Bank With EECU If You Like Your Money

EECU will nickle-and-dime their 'members' every opportunity! I have been a member of EECU for 20 years. I have had issues with them for 20 years but, have been too busy to look for a new bank. I pay $6/month for a checking account that 'covers overage fees' and privides other benefits. EECU will rush all of your charges through before they make your deposit placed at 4:00pm the day before. Then, they will charge you $32 per transaction (my TOTAL charges were less than $2 more than what was currently in my bank, predeposit)...they push all of the charges through if the TOTAL is over what is in your account, they will charge $32 fee for EVERY charge (including the $5 one)!

Additionally, I have jumped through hoops to make withdraws, do online bank, and wait on debit cards (after mine has expired) for decades. I have had issues in past (it's been pretty good for about a year now) with money being taken out, magically appearing back in my account, and coming back out (for years it seemed like they were trying to mess me up so they could charge/make-money-off-of me). Also, I had issues trying to use my card (when there was twice as much money in my account as the purchase) in the past! They finally got their online banking system working in 2016. Furthermore, I have met 2 EECU employees, in 2 decades, who have been helpful/friendly...their employees act like they HATE their jobs and I am bugging them by being in their bank at 3:00pm!

The "Final Straw" happened this year (2017). I had one overdraw (I pay $6/mo, remember, for 1 freebie every month) in past 4 or more months (I've kept $2,000-$6,000 in my account for past year except 2days between paying for vacation and payday in October); yet, I was charged a $32 fee in January for being less than $5 over (what happened to the once-a-month forgiveness that I pay for?). Then, they held an IRS deposit (over $1,000) for 5 business days (Thursday-Wednesday). On Sunday, I accidentally double-submitted a credit cards payment ($25) putting me $4.00 over my current balance. EECU charged me a $32 fee even though they were 'holding' a large IRS deposit pending (which should have been released at that time anyways)!!! I'm done. My next day off, I am taking my monthly payments and $4,000 average account to another bank!

Now, I can't submit form via mobile device. Come-on EECU it's 2017, the time of Web 2.0 (mainly mobile devices)!!! Maybe it only hides the submit button if the review has less than 5stars. I know them well enough that I copied my entire review to submit over-and-over until I get it to take! Lol

Eecu Problems

Posted by: Anonymous | Sep 25, 2012

I've been with this credit union for years and a few days ago someone got my account information from them a stole over $700 from me. They reacted very slow with the situation. I am very unsatisfied. But other than there slow reaction to this fraud issue, the bank is slow with updating information on your account and you have to check and change it about 3 times before they get it correct.
